Board Responsibilities for ALL Directors:

Welcome to the ISGB Board of Directors!

As a valued member of our leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of ISGB. Below are the responsibilities all board directors share, in addition to any specific duties tied to your role. While these commitments are important, please know that your unique talents and passion for the glass bead community are what matter most.

Core Responsibilities

  • Be a current member of ISGB.
  • Check your ISGB email regularly and reply to fellow board members, staff, and ISGB members in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Submit a brief monthly report ahead of each board meeting to be included in the official minutes.
  • Review meeting minutes in advance to stay informed and ready to contribute.

Meeting Participation

  • Attend monthly or bi-monthly board meetings (virtually or in person). If you can’t attend, just let us know in advance and arrange for coverage when possible.
  • Join at least two committees or projects, and actively participate in related meetings and tasks.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with fellow board members and the wider ISGB community.
  • Help manage and respond to activity on ISGB's public social media accounts when needed.
  • Always act with integrity and in the best interest of the organization—free from personal bias.

Learning & Leadership

  • Be open to learning about ISGB’s programs, initiatives, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance during the annual budget review and contribute to financial planning.
  • Play an active role in shaping ISGB’s long-term strategic vision.

Support & Involvement

  • Help identify and recruit new board members by participating in the board nomination process.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts—this includes helping with outreach and sharing fundraising initiatives.
  • Contribute to auctions through donations or by seeking contributions.

   Events & Conferences

  • Be available to attend ISGB events (in person or virtually).
  • Participate in the annual general membership meeting.
  • For in-person board meetings, a small travel and lodging stipend is provided.
  • During the annual conference, board members help with event logistics—such as speaker introductions, auctions, workshops, and more. Your support ensures everything runs smoothly.

Your presence on the board brings energy, insight, and creativity to ISGB.
