Marketing and Communications Director

The International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB)

Overview:

In addition to the regular board responsibilities shared by all Directors, the Communications and Marketing Director plays a vital role in promoting ISGB’s mission, programs, and events. This position is ideal for a creative, organized individual with a passion for visual storytelling, strategic outreach, and community engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media & Digital Outreach

  • Maintain a consistent and engaging presence across ISGB's social media platforms:
    • Facebook (Members Only, Education, Gathering, and Business pages)
    • Instagram
    • YouTube
    • Twitter (X)
  • Monitor and respond to engagement across platforms daily.
  • Collaborate with other board members and volunteers to create and schedule content that builds community and promotes events.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to raise awareness of ISGB programs and events.
  • Design promotional and advertising materials (experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or similar tools is a plus).
  • Assist in producing marketing collateral such as the Gathering Booklet.

Media Relations

  • Write and distribute press releases to art, craft, and industry publications.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets and partners.
  • Update and distribute the Media Kit in collaboration with the Sales Associate, ensuring alignment with member benefits.

Branding & Strategy

  • Ensure consistency in branding across all public-facing materials.
  • Work with the Sales Associate/Operations Manager to negotiate advertising contracts and track performance.
  • Help shape pricing strategies for advertisements and sponsorships.

Reporting & Budgeting

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, including:
    • Glass Bead Evolution publication
    • Advertising and exhibition materials
    • Website and digital tools
  • Provide regular reports (monthly or bi-monthly) on advertising performance, social media metrics, and distribution updates.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with graphic design and creative software (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with administering business accounts on social media platforms.
  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Passion for the glass arts or the creative community is a big plus.
